Hiring a Logo Designer: What to Expect, Step by Step

The perfect logo doesn’t come pre-made. It isn’t a template, a stock icon, or a one-click AI result. It’s custom-built to tell your story and earn trust at a glance. It’s a true one-of-a-kind piece custom-crafted for your brand to represent it clearly, attract customers, and visually tell your story.

It’s important to understand that a logo is more than a drawing. A logo is the cornerstone of your brand, and a strong brand begins with understanding your business, then exploring multiple directions, and finally refining the best one until it’s clean, readable, and usable everywhere you need it. This post explains that process in simple terms: how the branding process works and what you’ll see during each stage. To begin your transformation, fill out the request form at the bottom when you’re ready, or read the article below.

Step 1: Request a Quote

This step is where the studio learns your brand. The more you share, the stronger the foundation for a logo that fits your business and tells your story clearly.

You’ll begin with the logo request form below. It will ask a few simple questions, such as:

  • Which supporting assets would you like included with your logo?

  • What is the full name of your brand as it will appear on the logo?

  • What does your brand do, who is it for, and what makes it worth choosing?

  • Provide a minimum of three URLs to logos that you like, and share why you like them.

If you’re not sure how to answer something in the form, short answers are fine. Simple and honest beats an unsubmitted form.

Once you fill out the form, here’s what happens next:

  • The studio reviews your submission.

  • You receive a quote with clear pricing and timing.

  • If everything looks right, you approve the quote and submit a 50% deposit to kick off the project.

Step 2: Review Concepts and Choose a Direction

This is where your logo starts to take shape. After your project is booked, you’ll receive your first round of logo concepts as a PDF link.

For the first round your concepts are shown in black and white. Before color gets involved, we keep the focus on the fundamentals: shape, balance, typography, and legibility. Your goal in this round is to choose your favorite 2–3 directions and leave comments directly on the PDF link. No need to talk like a designer; simple notes like these are perfect:

  • “I like the direction of Option A, but can the font be bolder?”

  • “This feels too sharp. Can it be rounded so it looks more friendly?”

  • “Can spacing be tighter between the symbol and the name?”

Your feedback is what turns a good concept into the perfect logo for your brand. Once you review Round 1, the following will happen:

  • You’ll pick your favorite 2–3 logo directions.

  • You’ll leave comments directly on the PDF link with the changes you’d like to see.

  • The studio will review your feedback and begin the next round of refinements.

Step 3: Refine the Chosen Direction and Receive Final Files

This step is where your logo gets refined, finalized, and packaged for real-world use. Based on your comments, the studio refines the chosen direction through up to four included rounds of revisions.

Each round follows the same process:

  • You leave your comments on the PDF link.

  • The studio reviews the comments on the .PDF link and applies any changes.

  • The applied changes are sent over in the next round as a fresh .PDF link.

Once the final design is approved, the following will happen:

  • Final color and final variations are finalized

  • Final files are exported for both web and print in various file formats like .JPG, .PNG, .AI, .PDF, .SVG, and .EPS.

  • Everything is delivered in an organized Google Drive folder you can download anytime.

  • A URL is sent to you to collect the final 50% of your payment.
